Also you can see that she really likes to look at the camera- I think because it's shiny and black...makes for getting some good full face shots...not so much for getting smiles and the like that she gives people, not things.

Smiles!
I'm about to post a horrible video... It's Beni having some tummy time, but... in the background you'll hear some tv ladies (and guest host gentlemen) having discussions about sex and who knows what else (you can hear it very clearly), then you get some construction sounds in the background as well (the siding is still being put on the house). This is late morning at our house...what can I say? But watching the 3 minute video is 100% worth the full on smile she flashes at me right around 1min 30secs. Seriously. I still haven't been able to get a smile on camera, but, we finally got a really good one on video!

adorable! what are you saying to her? Hey, deelay sounds like. Is that cutie or baby in Latvian? Also I had no idea it was BENita, I thought it was benIta. Sweet.

I'm saying "Hey, Pile" which is pronounced more like pee-leh- it actually means duck in Latvian. It's the pet name that just came out of my mouth from pretty much day one, and is the only thing I call her 99% of the time.
Yeah, the pronunciation of Benita's name has been a bit of an issue here in the States... I say BENita, and people go, "Oh, benIta." And I think to myself, "Oh yeah, right, thanks for pointing out that I clearly said my own child's name wrong." Sigh. I guess benIta is a more Spanish pronunciation, which, would clearly be the default for most Americans...but...yeah, BENita is the Latvian pronunciation.
