Milk facial

Beni cracks me up...sometimes when she's nursing she'll decide that she needs to rub her little face all around. Well, I hope it's not too graphic to say, but, once the milk is flowing, it's flowing! So then she ends up with a milk facial (for real because breast milk has all kinds of healing and antibacterial properties). In this picture you can see that she has it dripping out of her mouth, down her right cheek, and although she blinked a nanosecond before I took this picture, she literally had a pool of it in her left eye. I just laughed.

When she ha a little bit of a goopy eye sometime in her second or third week (the left one incidentally), I was told by many to put some breast milk on it. And when the baby acne first started, I also had people recommend to "wash" her face in breast milk. Well, seems I don't have to do anything- she's doing it all on her own! :)

The good news concerning her skin and stuff- even though I was previously using a baby soap/shampoo/lotion on her, I knew that this brand rated middle of the road for "cosmetic safety" (um, and the brand I was using is advertised as natural and rates lower than most common baby shampoos), so I decided to buy some baby wash and lotion that I knew rated really low (good) for safety. Even after one use the top of her head has cleared up! She does still have lots of pimples on her face and around the sides of her head, but at least we have progress. I have also avoided any overt dairy since Sunday. So basically, I think she probably would have gotten the acne anyway, but my guess is that the soap and lotion and the dairy were probably making it worse.

We'll just keep up with the milk facials, and maybe the acne will clear up faster than it would otherwise. :)
